Key functions of the Estimator role include:

• Estimating labour and material costs of printing based on specifications outlined on sales orders or submitted by prospective customers.
• Using experience and knowledge to determine the most effective cost strategy.
• Conferring with department heads or production personnel to develop or confirm information regarding various production elements.
• Reviewing specifications and production requirements.
• Sourcing outside services and purchases, and review and analyze post-production cost summaries.
• Offering technical support to Sales and Sales support staff
• May also estimate cost of digital and mailing requirements

Experience/Expérience:
• Current experience in computerized estimating is preferred
• Strong background in production and the use of Logic applications
• Previous experience in a print manufacturing environment preferred
• A comprehensive understanding of pricing strategies, competitive pricing models is an asset
• Demonstrated excellence in organization and attention to detail

• Must be able to work quickly under pressure in a demanding and fast-paced environment
• Excellent analytical and math skills

• Handling all materials required for Press operations and other production areas – mainly consisting of skids of paper
• Constantly moving skids and large materials from one operation to the next
• Filing of all trend-folds
• Cross-training provided to receive goods when necessary

• Use of pump truck is constant

Flexibility to move between hand and machine bindery is also needed.

• Knowledge of bindery equipment and the printing process an asset.
• Basic computer skills are required
• A mechanical aptitude is considered an asset
