BINDERY TEAM LEADER - OTTAWA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will coordinate all Machine Bindery and Hand Assembly functions of the commercial products in the plant. The primary functions are to oversee the manufacturing processes and ensure quality is adhered to, processes are being followed, and staff is coordinated to maximize productivity and meet delivery requirements. Additional responsibilities include:

Production / Process:
  • Coordinate workflow and work priorities, schedules, docket tracking and job status through the Bindery processes
  • Ensure staff is aware of all current and upcoming job priorities
  • Attend daily production meetings
  • Inform and assist Hand assembly Line Captains in coordinating and scheduling Hand Assembly operations
  • Provide “floor” guidance to Bindery staff
  • Handle questions from staff regarding job docket information – provide answers or seek assistance/clarification from Bindery Manager or Sales / CSR’s
  • Provide quality control and ensure work instructions and procedures (quality checks, trend pulls) are followed
  • Review productivity and implement efficiencies with an emphasis on Lean manufacturing
  • Act as the Bindery 5S champion by promoting a 5S method of ensuring work stations are clean, organized and efficient
  • Ensure Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to and enforced.
  • Cross train to cover for Bindery Manager when required.
Reporting:
  • Report daily performance issues to the Bindery Manager
  • Keep the Bindery Manager updated with daily production status and report any issues throughout the day
  • Identify and report on the performance of all Bindery staff members to the Bindery Manager to provide assistance in the Performance Feedback Appraisal process
EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in machine and hand bindery required
  • Experience working under pressure and meeting multiple demanding deadlines
  • Previous Team Leader or Supervisory experience is preferred
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Able to multi-task, plan and coordinate priorities
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to supervise and train staff
  • Dependable, reliable, dedicated and hard-working
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of Lowe-Martin processes and policies is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and Quality guidelines
