ISO 9001:2000
The Lowe-Martin Group has been certified ISO 9001 since 1995.
We were one of the first printers in Canada to obtain this
certification, and one of the first Canadian printers to
achieve certification to the latest revision of the standard
(9001:2000). Through this standard, we have written all
production processes into carefully monitored procedures to
ensure a consistent high quality product. |
Environmental Choice Program (Eco Logo)
The Lowe-Martin Group has been certified under the
Environmental Choice Program for Lithographic Printing
Services (CCD-041) since 1999 and under Digital Printing
Services (CCD-141) since the creation of this new category in
2004.
Our environmental activities are directed towards
lessening the impact of our industry on the environment. We
are one of the first printing companies in Canada to qualify
for Environment Canada’s Eco Logo certification under its
Environmental Choice Program. Our practices, which are
audited by an independent firm, eliminate the use of products
with benzene, halogenated solvents and isopropyl alcohol,
restrict the use of Volatile Organic Compounds, reduce
photo-processing waters and wastewater in our facilities,
increase the level of recycling, and set tough sewer effluent
targets. We have since helped two organizations become Eco
Logo certified: the House of Commons Information Services
department and the Senate Material Management department. We
have also worked with TerraChoice, an environmental
consulting company, to produce the Environmental Choice
Program certification requirements for digital print.

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification
In an effort to continuously improve our environmental
practices, the Lowe-Martin Group received certification from
the Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) Chain of Custody
program in March 2003.
Forest Stewardship Council is a non-profit organization
devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the
world’s forests. FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry
is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially
beneficial, and economically viable way. In many forests
around the world, logging still contributes to habitat
destruction, water pollution, displacement of indigenous
peoples, as well as violence against people who work in the
forest and the wildlife that dwells there. Many consumers of
wood and paper, and many forest products companies, believe
that the link between logging and these negative impacts can
be broken, and that forests can be managed and protected at
the same time. Forest Stewardship Council certification is
one way to improve the practice of forestry.
In an effort to continuously improve our environmental
practices, the Lowe-Martin Group received certification from
the Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) Chain of Custody
program in March 2003.
The Lowe-Martin Group strongly believes in the importance
of preserving the environment and has therefore committed
itself to developing practices that conform to the Chain of
Custody certification. FSC paper used by Lowe-Martin is
properly identified, tracked and handled during production.
This process allows Lowe-Martin to provide high quality
products while presenting customers with the option of
supporting sound environmental practices.
